Wissenschaftsnetzwerk Recht im Anthropozän
Ob Biodiversitäts- und Klimakrise, CO2-Reduktionspflicht, Normierung von Ökozid und Geoengineering, Klimaklagen oder Rechte der Natur – die rechtlichen Auseinandersetzungen um die Krisen des Anthropozäns intensivieren sich. Dabei ist nicht nur ein Kampf um oder mittels Recht zu erkennen, im Zuge dessen neue Rechtssubjekte, Naturbezüge und Haftungsregime entstehen. Vielmehr ist das Recht selbst tief verstrickt in die Hervorbringung des Anthropozäns.
Das wissenschaftliche Netzwerk „Recht im Anthropozän“ (RiA) bringt Forschende aus Rechtswissenschaften, Soziologie und Anthropologie zusammen, die diese Verstrickungen von Recht und Anthropozän auf theoretischer wie empirischer Ebene untersuchen. Im Zentrum steht die Frage, inwiefern das Anthropozän die sozialwissenschaftlichen Grundkategorien von Materialität, Subjektivität und Verantwortung transformiert und damit zugleich das Recht herausfordert. Denn von der Beantwortung dieser Frage hängt letztlich ab, welches Recht in concreto angesichts des oder eben „für“ das Anthropozän das richtige sein kann.
Gefördert wird das Wissenschaftsnetzwerk durch die Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG, Projektnummer 548004032).
Research Network Law in the Anthropocene
Whether it’s biodiversity and climate crises, CO2 reduction obligations, norms for ecocide and geoengineering, climate lawsuits or the rights of nature – the legal disputes surrounding the crises of the Anthropocene are intensifying. These battles that give rise to new legal entities, legal references to nature and liability regimes are not only fought for or through the law. Rather, law itself is deeply entangled in the creation of the Anthropocene.
The scientific network Law in the Anthropocene („Recht im Anthropozän“) unites scholars from law, sociology, and anthropology investigating these legal entanglements in the Anthropocene from theoretical and empirical perspectives. The focus lies on the extent to which the Anthropocene transforms the fundamental social science categories of materiality, subjectivity, and responsibility, thereby challenging the law itself. Ultimately, the answer to this question will determine which laws in practice can be appropriate for the Anthropocene.
